Yellowstone Backpacking
July 20- August 2 , 2008 Coed 12- 17 $1975
The world's first national park is a fitting destination for any backcountry adventurer.
The real Yellowstone is far from the crowds-- with spectacular scenery, great fishing, remote geysers, bountiful wildlife, and few people.
The backpacking team assembles in Jackson Hole with flights coming in throughout the day. After a night in the Jackson Hole area and time to see some of the sights, they travel along the east side of the Tetons and into Yellowstone where they spend two nights with time for organizing, packing gear, fishing and seeing some of the famous sights of Yellowstone.
Once the team departs the trailhead, there are no people and no crowds, but plenty to see and do. Team members receive in-depth instruction in backcountry travel, fly fishing and outdoor skills while gaining serious backcountry experience.
Past OWA Yellowstone teams have traveled between 25 and 75 trail miles, venturing into a lot of remote country seldom visited by humans. Our Yellowstone group is typically limited to about 9 team members with two or three OWA guides. We do sometimes group larger teams into smaller trail groups based on age and experience. No previous backcountry experience is required, and the fishing is exceptional!
