Silver Trail Fall Trek  - Nov 17-25, 2007 $1575.00

Copper Canyon Epic Single Track -Spring Break 2008 (contact us for exact dates or check for updates).

Since we only work with small groups to keep the fun easy and the impact low, space is quite limited. To reserve a spot, just give us a call at our Texas office (512.731.7596), Colorado Office (719.748.3080) or send us an email requesting that we hold a spot.

Do It Your Way
In additon to our scheduled Copper Canyon trips, OWA will also put together custom Copper Canyon trips for groups of four or more for a very reasonable price-- essentially the same as our regular trips. These can have all the great features of our regular trips, plus a lot of added flexibility or you can just do the things and see the things you are interested in and without the pressure of worrying about what everyone else wants to do. Trip possibilities include mountain biking, rock climbing, day hiking and burro supported treks throughout the entire Sierra, custom guided adventure on the lost Silver Trail. Arrangements can be made to begin and end your trip at a variety of locations. including Creel, Chihuahua, Los Mochis, El Paso, Urique, Batopilas, La Bufa, Carachic, Divisadero, etc.

Silver Trail - Fall Trek
November 17-November 25 Coed Age Group: 18 & Up

Trek the Batopilas Leg of the Silver Trail This Fall!  7 days/6 nights of supported trekking into the virtual heart of the Sierra Tarahumara. This year's trip follows the canyon sections of the newly rediscovered and historic Silver Trail (Ruta de Plata) from La Laja into Batopilas with the OWA guides who rediscovered and mapped it! See the canyons literally from top to bottom on ancient Tarahumara trails.  Expect perfect weather (dare we say that?), amazing vistas and great opportunities for birding, exploring the natural and cultural history of the area and some real adventure. The route takes in some incredibly remote backcountry that has seen few outsiders during the past 100 years-- since the last Batopilas Mining Company mule trains made their final treks during the early days of the Mexican Revolution.

The group assembles in Chihuahua City (American, Continental and Aero Mexico all fly in there) and after a night in Chihuahua heads to Creel and then the Sierra Lodge at Cusarare which serves as the staging area.  An afternoon hike, packing gear and then a leisurely supper under oil lamp light will leave everyone ready to hit the trail the following day.  A shuttle takes the group first to the historic Silver Trail station at La Laja and then a bit further where we meet our pack burros and Tarahumara arrieros who will carry much of our gear to allow us to walk in comfort.  The trek will cover some 40 miles over the course of 6 days-- all through some of the most spectacular canyon country in the sierra.  The group will visit the old station at Teboreachic and will travel through several Tarahumara ranchos and small villages eventually dropping some 5000 feet into the subtropical Batopilas Canyon...........and ultimately right into Batopilas.

No previous experience is required, but participants should be in good physical condition.  Trails are unmaintained and rugged with plenty of uphill and downhill.  OWA provides all backpacking gear, food, transportation from Chihuahua and back as well as lodging and meals in Batopilas, Cusarare and Chihuahua (except for one supper in Chihuahua) as well pack animals and OWA/local guides.  The program originates in Chihuahua on November 17 and returns in time for flights out on November 25 in the morning.

This is a "must do" adventure for people who really want to see and experience the famous and fabulous Copper Canyon!

Epic Single Track
March 01-March 30 Coed Age Group: 18 & Up

What better way to jumpstart your 2008 mountain bike season than with an Epic Single Track trip to  Copper Canyon

9 Day Spring Break Trips Available with trips beginning on Saturday

Join the usual cast of OWA Copper Canyon Guides  mountain biking on our favorite single tracks in Mexico with an epic scheduled for each day. This if for mountain bikers eager to build their fitness, improve their technical skills & burn off the holidays, while experiencing some of the best riding on the planet.  We guarantee a lot of miles, variety of terrain and an opportunity to see some mighty wild and spectacular country.  Intermediate - Expert mountain bikers only for this one!

The group assembles in Chihuahua on the afternoon/evening of Saturday (the first day of the trip)  and travels to Creel on Sunday the second day  A ride is planned for the day we arrive in creel-- we can't let a day get by without some fun. Riding will be out from the Creel area in every direction and over toward Divisadero.  Each day will feature a classic epic with a variety of single track and old logging roads taking the group on a spectacular whirlwind tour of the best of the region............along with some exploration that could lead us just about anywhere.  While we like the traditional rides we've been doing for years (and they are great to be sure) we have been assembling an array of longer rides out into the higher canyons and to an array of Tarahumara farms and villages that will take us well off the beaten path.  If the weather is too chilly for us up high, we'll head down into the canyons in search of the right rides and the right weather.  All the while we'll be able to glean some tips on training and technique from Expert racers and local knowledge and technique from experienced Copper Canyon guides who know the area like few others.  We're guaranteeing 6 hours in the saddle everyday.

Accommodations will be at the Villa Mexicana in Creel with double or triple occupancy in comfortable log cabins with private baths.  We will eat well (and a lot) and leave plenty of time for R&R each evening to prepare everyone for the following day.  This program is designed for intermediate through advanced mountain bikers.  Rides will include a substantial amount of climbing/descending, plenty of technical terrain and enough miles to satisfy everyone's need.  Group size is limited.  Transportation to Creel will be via private vehicles (accompanied by OWA staff). OWA provides all lodging, most meals, transportation from Chihuahua, and OWA/local guides.
